For those looking to escape ‘the Valley’s chain restaurant scene and find a new dining adventure, Haven Kitchen + Bar has you covered – well, almost.
The fresh new Langley hotspot with a self-proclaimed “quirky and probably too loud for your Grandma” ambiance was to open March 18.
As a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), that date has been pushed back for the foreseeable future.
Owners, twin brothers Chris and Jamie Ruscheniski and their wives Hayley and Angela, who have raised millions for cancer charities with their annual fundraising concert ‘Gone Country,’ made the call March 16 to delay the opening.
The decision was just two days short of the official planned launch. As a result, the team was forced to lay off 60 members of their staff.
“We knew that despite the hardships, the health and safety of our community, our family, and our Haven team was a top priority.”
Angela Ruscheinski, Haven’s brand and creative director.
While it could be weeks or maybe months before patrons can experience the array of bold plates and quirky cocktails served inside this independent dining establishment, touchless takeout is available.

For those who are tired of typical takeout fare, the diverse menu offers some refreshing options for the whole family. From the Ginger Soy Glazed Chicken Wings, Lemongrass Penne and Miso Truffle Fries to an assortment of vegan options, such as the Crispy Tofu Bao Buns and Sweet Potato Hummus, there’s something to appeal to all. Kid-friendly meals and a few desserts are also available
Chef Antonio Martin is Haven’s executive chef, and Celebrity media personality Chef Spencer Watts is the menu development partner.
“We like to describe our food as ‘modern casual dining with an adventurous global approach,” said Angela.

“Once we open and business in Langley returns to normal, we are so excited to share some of Watt’s greatest hits featured on our menu, including his Ramen Gnocchi and the Pacific Lingcod. “
The dining room may be closed, but that doesn’t mean foodies have to wait for a taste of Haven.
“We know that once the community pulls through this, everyone will be excited and eager to dine out again, and we can’t wait to officially welcome guests then. In the meantime, purchasing gift cards for future use or ordering from our touchless takeout are hands-down the best way to help us through this time!”
